Due to the license agreement between Frogwares and Nacon coming to an end, we needed to release a patch that updates the copyright legal lines and credits within the game. Unfortunately due to this change, any save files that you might currently have will no longer properly work.
We’re very sorry, and to mitigate the frustration, we are providing you with 2 alternative workarounds below to continue using your save games.
Workaround #1: Use the saves that we have provided
1) Go to your Steam Library.
2) Find Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter in your library.
3) Right click on the game in the list and select “Properties”
Then in the opened window unselect "Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud for Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter"
4) Download and extract the desired save file from this article attachments (see top right side of this page)
5) Open folder with Windows Explorer: My Documents\My Games\Sherlock Holmes - The Devil's Daughter Steam \ SH8Game.
6) Remove all *.sav files from this folder.
7) Copy the saves downloaded in step (4) into this folder: My Documents\My Games\Sherlock Holmes - The Devil's Daughter Steam\SH8Game
6) Start the game and choose “Continue” from Main Menu
7) Play the game for a while, until the saving happens.
8) Enable cloud saves as described in steps 2-3 above (select the "Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud for Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter" option) .
Workaround #2: Use your own save games from an older build of the game
1) Go to your Steam Library.
2) Find Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter in your library.
3) Right click on the game in the list and select “Properties”
4) Go to “BETAS” section.
5) Type in the password Besherlocked8 and press “Check Code”:
6) Choose the newly appeared branch from the list:
7) Ensure that a proper branch is selected:
8) Launch the game as usual.
Please note that the branch will expire in 30 days, so Workaround #2 will be available only for a limited time. However, Workaround #1 will remain for you to use.
